ReConstruct Online discussion: Green Deal 2050: Building for a climate-neutral future – looking for solutions

The building materials industry plays a key role in climate protection and the transition to a renewable energy future. To achieve the EU climate targets, radical innovations along the entire value chain are essential.

The ReConstruct research platform invites you to an online discussion on “Green Deal 2050: Building for a climate-neutral future – looking for solutions.” Panelists present pioneering projects from Switzerland followed by a discussion on how Austria and the EU Green Deal can benefit from these solutions and ensure climate neutrality in the building sector. Leonore Gewessler, Austria’s Federal Minister for Climate Action, will offer a keynote for the event.

According to our Managing Partner Dr. Stephan Lienin, “It is no longer building materials but rather the demands on their functionality that should be the starting point for further development in products and business models. Companies in the building materials industry can thus contribute to overall solutions.” Supported by insights from ReConstruct studies, he will present the importance of innovation, integration and inversion under the title “I-Mindset.” As Stephan Lienin will describe, the functionalities demanded by the end customers are the launching point for change, while increased cooperation between contributors along the value chain enables synergies and innovation

In partnership with WIFO, Sustainserv, the Center for European Policy Studies Brussels, the Wegener Center at the University of Graz and the Austrian Stone and Ceramic Industry Association, ReConstruct is a research platform exploring the future of construction.

We look forward to an open exchange on sustainable construction. For more information, click here.
