Sustainserv Co-Founder & Managing Partner Matthew Gardner named as Committee Chair
Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM) today announced new leadership and programming for its Energy, Environment & Sustainability (EES) Committee, which has been expanded to reflect the new issues that businesses are facing in this rapidly changing space.
AIM named Dr. Matthew Gardner, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Sustainserv, as EES Committee Chair. Dr. Gardner will work with AIM members to help navigate new sustainability regulations and to meet the Commonwealth’s decarbonization goals.
“During this critical time in our clean energy transition, AIM’s Energy, Environment, & Sustainability Committee is poised to play a crucial role in shaping our organization’s stance on key policy matters. It will help guide our members across the Commonwealth as they develop plans to meet the state’s net zero goals,” said Stephanie Swanson, Executive Vice President of Government Affairs at Associated Industries of Massachusetts. “We are pleased that Dr. Gardner has agreed to serve as Chair of the EES Committee, which will serve as a hub for collaboration, idea exchange, and action on issues that are central to the many industries that we serve.”
Dr. Gardner co-founded Sustainserv – a global management consulting firm that assists clients in developing and executing their environmental, social and governance strategies – more than 20 years ago and has a long history of advising AIM and its members on sustainability issues and best practices. The EES Committee will meet quarterly, in-person or virtually, with a distinguished guest speaker who will share insights and expertise on a topic that is both timely and meaningful for AIM’s members. Other programming will include workshops and roundtables at locations across Massachusetts to bring practical information regarding the wide range of energy, environment, and sustainability-issues relevant to AIM’s diverse membership.
“I am proud to serve as Chair of the AIM EES Committee, and I am looking forward to sharing my experience and insight with members,” said Dr. Gardner, Managing Partner for Sustainserv. “It has never been more important for companies and organizations to have access to resources to understand and respond to the risks and the opportunities that topics such as climate change, forever chemicals, global supply chains and a shifting regulatory landscape present for Massachusetts businesses of all sizes. Our goal is to provide these companies with the information, resources, and networks to help them flourish over the long term in these dynamic times.”
The Committee held its first session earlier this year with featured speaker Massachusetts Representative Jeff Roy, House Chair of the Telecommunications, Utilities, & Energy Committee.
